REI Bellingham is ON STRIKE.

Here's why — and where you can still pick up your gear for Ski to Sea.

What's Happening?

We, the workers of REI Bellingham, are out on strike this Saturday, May 25th. This strike follows the unfair labor practice charges we have filed with REI over their illegal union busting and bad faith bargaining that they have committed over the past year since we first unionized.

We know that many people have come far and wide to compete in this year's Ski to Sea race, and we want to make sure you have all the information about REI's union-busting practices while we're out on strike in Bellingham. We wish we could be serving you all for your multi-sport relay gear needs, but hope that next year we can see you in our store!

Read on and you can learn everything you need to know about REI’s continued pattern of anti-union behavior. It’s an extensive list, as they’ve been union busting for years and illegally avoiding their obligation to negotiate a fair deal.

That's why we're saying enough is enough. It’s time for REI to STOP union busting and come to the bargaining table. Add your name to our petition below to show your support for REI workers and call on Co-op leadership to stop fighting against our union movement.

The more members and shoppers we have standing behind our demands for fair negotiations, the more power we have to hold REI to its values during this year’s Anniversary Sale.

REI’s Union Busting Explained

REI Fires Manager for Not Union Busting Quickly Enough HuffPost Hero Image.jpeg

REI’s aggressive union busting recently reached a new low - we learned earlier this month that they fired a manager for failing to report union activity and “escalate the situation to the appropriate leaders in a timely manner.”

This firing makes it clear that REI doesn’t respect workers’ freedom to decide whether union representation is right for them. Instead, they’re dragging managers into the conflict, forcing them to choose between ratting out pro-union workers and keeping their jobs.
